Retention confusion

Hi, I’m in a weird situation. I have one week left in TCS and today I got a message from HR that they are ready to retain me and they are matching the offer which I have.

TCS is big giant to work and WFO is not a challenge for me. But it has been communicated to the client and my colleague’s that I’ll be leaving next week. Everyone including me is mentally prepared for it and we are done with KT and responsibilities transfer too.

Won’t it be weird situation for me and everyone if I accept the offer to stay .

It is also possible that tcs will match the offer and then next year will deliberately give D band and will deduct salary to match again with the previous low salary

This won’t happen because my process is solely dependent on me . If I leave the process and client will close data science unit . That’s why they are matching the offer

Never go for this trap, they will retain, create your back up, next year they will give you D band and will decrease your package.

Is tcs giving you in writing to match offer, just ask them what they have to offer and are they just adding to qva or any kind of retention bonus.. dont fall in trap with tcs and leave

True, check the salary break up first before committing to TCS, for C3B and above we are getting only 30 to 40% QVA in last 1 year

As part of retention they are giving me revised compensation letter, wherein the hike has been adjusted in all the components. So my retention bonus hasn’t changed it’s the same as earlier. QVA was 8.6% it’s the same. It has been added to BOB, Basic and other places

Yes it will be weird ....TCS is good company but I think you should switch to get better opportunities and environment change...don't be in that comfort zone again. If you again start working here everybody's behaviour will change for sure. You will realise it after some time. That's my opinion...Else upto you

Awesome, make sure they don’t add it to variable pay, even though they add as retention bonus in CTC, make sure they adjust in to basic and variable pays in your upcoming compensation letter

Why don't you accept this offer and remain in tcs for 1 more year or 6 monyhs then try to change then you can demand more from another organisation

Stay there for some time and then switch, don't bother about what anyone is going to think...make a target of 6 months 1 year and then start looking..one main point..compare in hand salary of both organisations carefully and be careful with TCS

Nothing is weird, its weird that we are thinking, the world carries FO attitude, so do you. Take it , resume and make inspirational story..try after 1 year hopefully by then market will be better..
