Retention and Offer Letter

  1. My current company wants to retain me promising a change in tech stack with a lower salary.

  2. I wish to stay back as I am more interested about a teck stack change.

  3. But, current company asks me to share new company offer letter.

  4. New company offer letter has a clause mentioning that terms of employment and compensation are strictly confidential.

  5. Can I share new company's offer letter with current company despite that clause? Is this the IT industry norm for retention?

Yes, I can attest to this. You can share it. Reason: your existing company isn't going to share your offer letter outside or some social media, so your offer letter company will never come to know that u ever did something like sharing a document.

But if u still wanna be careful, ask your manager/HR whoever asked you to write in email requesting new offer letter and also mention that the same will be highly confidential and won't be shared
