Retain option in Cognizant

I have already resigned in January and April 10th is my last working day in Cognizant. I have already got a good offer from another company for 166% hike.

Today Cognizant hr and my manager called me to say that, my client is looking forward to retain me in and they asked me how much package I need. I asked them total hike of 200%.

Will they even think of giving it in Cognizant ? If they give should i stay or move to other company with less package as it is product based company. What and all restrictions Cognizant may put if I accept this?

How did you manage to get an offer with 90 days of notice period?

ZestyNarwhal

Depends on your interview
If you are answering well about your project as well as your tech stacks and resume right they will wait.
Interviewer(manager) had asked me that 90 days is very long to wait. I said yes but I can talk with my current manager if he can reduce it. But he said that he will give in writing that in service based company or Cognizant they won’t reduce notice period so easily . But I was confident like yeah if they cannot do it I would have to wait for 90 days itself but I will try my best. Then after some days even hr called and said I was selected and she asked last working day. So I told her it will be 90 but I will confirm once I get official mail. So once they release offer normally they will not revoke it if your notice period is 60 or 90. So they accepted the last working day

You won’t believe but I have given my interview in November end Got my offer letter in January mid nearly 1 month later because in December everyone in my new company was on leave
And they accepted my 3 months notice period as well
So it’s total of 120days if you take from interview day

My Last working day is the 4th of April and I am in a similar situation but I am choosing to be in a product base company instead as at my current position I wanna learn and grow. Cognizant doesn't even come close when it comes to good learning/opportunities.

I agree with this 🫡 I have stayed here for 3 years and I have learnt many things by myself and not because of my project or Cognizant.

Please don't even think of getting retained here unless they are giving you onsite

ZestyNarwhal
ZestyNarwhal

Sure thanks
And I am sure they won’t even match the package I am asking

WigglyNugget
WigglyNugget

They won't. I was retained last year. I got retained just because I wasn't getting any better offers. And I got 2 onsite trips only but I was promised an entire project. I am already going to resign soon

Once you worked in a product based company, your value wil b in next level. Additionally, your knowledge will get boosted!

ZestyNarwhal
ZestyNarwhal

Yeah that’s why I have decided to go for it instead of even thinking about retaining.

I got retention offer last year in Cts, it was way below the offer I got from outside, they only gave 20% hike and a promotion in next quarter which i declined.

And I was a critical resource for project and got back to back top ratings for the previous 4-5 years.

ZestyNarwhal

Same even I have all 4 ratings from first and I am a critical resource due to which client has come up now for retention that’s why Cognizant is dying to retain me. No matter what I won’t stay here as I know they are going to play their games if I stay

if u get 200% hike from cognizant, try to talk to that product company and ask them to match and go there

DizzyTaco

Bro , please switch to product base company . This HR’s never accept 200 % it’s 100 % sure . Make sure demand it for Onsite permanently . This is the time for negotiation to arrival at your end . Otherwise go for other company

ZestyNarwhal
ZestyNarwhal

They won’t send for on-site for sure

GigglyLlama

They will promise you to give next quarter or promotion, do not take back your papers before you get document, say I want it now or let me go… lot many false promises in CTS

ZestyNarwhal
ZestyNarwhal

Yeah I know. That’s why I never said them I will stay but told if you guys can match offer I will see if I want to or not

WigglyBurrito

Not possible in CTS

ZestyNarwhal

They have taken my current offer letter from new company and they said they are discussing. I am sure they won’t agree
But I am just waiting if they atlst send any mail that they can offer this much
Then I can give counter offer to new company and ask for raise 😅

PeppyCoconut
PeppyCoconut

Don't think about staying back. If you stay back it will be a mistake. The decision to move out with good hike is better.
