Resigning Government Job and moving to Private
Hi folks, I worked as a junior engineer at Indian railways in the S&T department for nearly 3 years and decided to quit. The culture was really bad and I felt like a slave who doesn't have any voice. Work hours were 24/7 and one day off in a week (that too if there were any issues I had to attend them). There are a lot of issues apart from what I listed above. So, finally I quit the job and moved to Bangalore for a better opportunity and now I'm working in the semiconductor industry as a STA engineer for a well known client (Renesas Electronics). Just curious to know what your views are.

Regarding our views, it doesn't really matter because you can't reverse that decision now. Rather you should tell us, how your life is different in private job

Yup... I have started to like the corporate world. Flexible work hours and mainly there is a lot of scope to grow in my career.

No matter private or govt job, at the end of the day, it is the peace of mind is what that matters the most, even if you have a low paying and job and good work life balance you will be the most happiest person. This is my personal opinion, it may vary for others 🙂

You did a great job

Thanks bro

I don't know if you have taken a good or bad decision. But one thing I can say is wherever you go, they have their own pros and cons.

That's true

why are you seeking our views that's very sound decision you took there. If it works for and you are happy you should not be bothered by what people think about it.

Just curious what people think about it. I'm not seeking advice because I made a decision after giving a lot of thought. So just posted it to see how people react to it

I am thinking about trying for a government job in railways. Not decided yet, just thinking about it.
