Resigned without any offer, got a 200% hike in TC with 1 year overall experience.
Hey everyone,
I am from 2023 batch passed outs, been working here for a year and decided to switch. I'll add some questions and answers here.
What about the 90 day notice period barrier? I noticed that many companies which have shown interest in my profile asked for notice period first and then proceeded further. Tbh, many of them ghosted or sent rejections. So, I made a decision to resign first and then apply. Told every recruiter after resignation my np is 30 days and got interviews scheduled by 3 companies. The recruiting process itself took one month and I passed 20 days of np before that. So, it is a "risk and reward" game.
How is the market, what is the probability of getting an interview scheduled? I applied for 300+ jobs, 30+ with referral. Got calls from around 10, as I said some are not comfortable with my notice period. 3 companies have scheduled them. Yeah, it is tough to get a call from the recruiter. Maybe my experience also had something to do with it.
How to get shortlisted and get a call? Make your resume specific for each job and align with the requirements checking ATS score. I used these tools : Overleaf Latex editor ( the FAANG template), Resume worded for ATS score, Chat GPT for modifying accordingly.
How to prepare for interviews? Honestly, do DSA as much as you can and get a clarified image on your experience section (either you have done it or faked it). For DSA follow sheets like Neetcode 150, Strivers AtoZ, as they have videos attached for clarity. The experience section needs to be thoroughly revised and you have to think of the questions or take help of Chat GPT for mock questions.
These are frequent questions, AMA in comments. I'll try to answer them.
Also, not to brag I am a Systems Engineer here.

Hey in the same situation as you, what was the skillset you were aiming for, as i dont have solid handson on any technology in irl projects. I do have side projects on them. If u were in the same situation how did u tackle it. Thanks

Mine's a different case, have been mapped to the project and went onsite for the work. I aimed for SDET/QA roles mostly in Python. Also, I made a separate resume for the Python Backend Dev role as I have done many projects back in college. Though my work includes mostly hands-on experience in python

Oh ok thanks man, I will also try too search for new opportunities thanks.

Resigning without an offer is risky but can work if you're strategic. Tailor your resume, focus on DSA, and be ready for a tough market.

Congratulations🎉
