Resignation without offer - good idea ?
Hello everyone! I have 8 years of experience as a software QA and am currently looking for job opportunities outside my company. I’ve been applying to jobs regularly on platforms like Naukri and LinkedIn, but unfortunately, I haven’t received any responses yet. I believe this might be due to my 90-day notice period. 🤔
I’m considering resigning without having another offer in hand. What are your thoughts on this? Is it a good idea?
Looking forward to your valuable insights!

Just tell companies it is 30 days and try
If they start interviewing you then, resign Since your hypothesis would be correct.
But if you still don't get calls it means that you need to hold your job tight because market is bad
Agreed with this, you can interview and keep reducing notice period Saying I have already resigned is a red flag from recruiter POV
Even if you get a job towards end of notice period, you will still have some days to relax before starting work Could definitely use that time to rejuvenate
P.S. Market is very risky, but if you have good work and network - maybe shouldn’t be a problem
This is a clever way of thinking.
As @CharmingDarkness and @BiryaniEnthu have mentioned you can try with less notice period to understand where you stand in the market.
If you still don't get many calls then it isn't necessary that the market is that bad, but you can identify what can be the other culprit here (e.g. cv, cover letter, unoptimised LinkedIn profile, your skillsets, etc).
Not a good idea in this market. Very Risky.
Market is tough. I put my papers without any offer in hand. 2 months have passed and so far I have given 2 interviews and I failed both of them. But hustling and applying actively in naukri, getting referral wherever possible.
don’t try bro this time is really bad for IT
Nope. Have an offer, then leave.
Bad Idea never do that until unless u have no option
Don’t try this now in 2024. IT market is very bad these days.
The moment you do it you loose all the bargaining power in interview
Another alternative is you can tell them you can try negotiating buy out with your current employer while they get the interview process started, and once you have made a lasting impression on the recruiter even if you cant negotiate or worse theres no provision to do so, your new employer would wait. This is only if you are sure enough to beat the competition and leave them feeling they cant get better than you.
