Resignation on bench

I am getting released from the project by the end of February, and received a release initiated email from Ultimatix. If I want to leave TCS, what is best approach to resign after release or before release. Or if not accepted any project while on bench and not reported to RMG, will they release automatically or will there any bad consequences for that?
