Trending @Cognizant; Resignation Appraisal?
Greetings,
I'd like to hear from fellow cognizant employees as it's a bit of a grey area and I need as many inputs as possible.
Do you think it's advisable to submit your resignation without a job offer and hope that the manager and HR would try to retain you with an increment on your current CTC ?
Note that the intention here is to have an increase in your pay and the only leverage you're having is "Pending HR round with other company".
Given that I'm facing a similar situation, id prefer to remain with cognizant but I feel I'm a bit underpaid considering my YOE and current CTC.
Also, I'm not exactly holding an offer. Just completed 2 rounds and awaiting the HR round in another company which I'm not looking forward to joining. Plus it's highly unlikely they'd offer me what I'm asking them.
Do you think it's worth the risk to submit the resignation without an offer in hand and hope that cognizant would offer me any bump in my current pay? My evidence remains my profile on the other company's "candidate portal" still shows status as "HR round".

Absolutely not recommended. Don't put yourself in a complicated situation. What will you do if your new company doesn't give you the offer letter and Cognizant simply lets you go? Worst case scenario, you will have to withdraw your resignation. In that case you will never be able to get the desired increment.

The reason I had these doubts in the first place was because recently 2 of my team mates resigned without any offers and the group manager did offer them promotions.
Also withdrawing the resignation is an option? Wasn't really aware of that.

I assume the worst could be some mild humiliation and depreciation if I withdraw my resignation? ( In case they don't offer me the promotion)

They will ask you if you have offer in hand , then they will try to increase your pay(that is also not fix), If you don’t have any OL they will not even think about increasing your pay.

2 of my teammates resigned last month without offers and the manager was eager to offer them promotions. I have good dependency and fair relations with the management. So, I don't know if it's worth taking the risk.

Don't put paper unless or until you have something in your hand. If CTS is going to retain you they will definitely ask you that offer letter and believe me if you have nothing in your hand they will just stretch you till your notice period date and at the end you are the one who is going to withdraw your resignation without any increment. If you think your technology is good and if you are not from support background you can get job anytime.

Actually 2 of my team mates recently resigned and the manager did offer them promotions. I have good dependency so I don't know, just assuming if the risk is worth.
Yeah I have good technologically strong background and skill although I'm trapped in a support/management project. I don't mind doing that but would appreciate some bump in my current CTC.

I have submitted resignation as I got offer, my manager asked me to revert if interested and I said ok. She submitted a revert request form from her end.
After 2 days HR called and asked expectation then I told to match the offer (approx 25%). He said not possible you can go with your offer and I said ok.
After 55 days of resignation he pinged my manager and asked is he critical resource or not, she said critical. Then again HR called and asked expectation. Meanwhile I got another offer which is more than the first one(approx 35%). I told to match the offer and he said will discuss and let you know.
On last day i.e 59th day he said got approval for offer match and asked me to revert. I reverted finally.

Without offer never resign, it’s like playing blind where probability of loosing is far greater

Better wait for a few weeks, secure and maximize the offer. In the Notice Period you can either secure a better offer or just negotiate with cts if you prefer that.
