Resignation and Retention
I have resigned on 27th October and since then the managers supervisors and the BU head is calling me to revert the resignation.
I am a 11 year experienced employee (8 years in TCS) and my grade is C2 and package is 10.5 LPA .Inspite of multiple calls , emails , no one paid any serious attention to improve the package or grade . I got frustrated and started looking outside. I landed on a job with better grade and 60% hike .
After putting down the papers , suddenly I am feeling that I exist in the project. I had worked day and night on this project. Did off hours , weekend shifts . My billing is the highest every month.
Does an employee's worth only recognised only after they resign . Do the hardwork mean nothing ? I did my work and then helped other teams . Came out with various automation strategies which are now deployed in client environment . But nothing seemed enough .
Even my MTech (in AIML) was not a reason to them to reconsider my promotion. Now they want to retain , but I feel down the line it will be same drill again and even worse .
The offer from managers are :
1 . They will match the package 2. They will promote once the cycle resumes . 3 . They will give a better working profile.
Really feeling drained out now .
Could you please help me to under if I should consider their promises now . Any there is anyone in this group who was retained by TCS , kindly share your post retention experience.
Thanking in advance.

Never do that mistake of staying back based on promises,
Firstly they might match the pay as per your offer letter you hold, but majority of hike will be done on QVP (Everyone knows how big off a scam QVP is - hardly gets paid upto 20%)
Secondly there will be additional pressure on you from Manager as they are retaining you back expectations will be more from you
Thirdly once you are out of this project anytime in future real colours of manager will come out
Promotion promises will be dusted off once you are out of project like you never existed

Nope don't do that. Majority of retention increase will be in variable, and they'll start deducting that after you promotion.
If you really want to stay, get at least 2x of your experience. Absolutely don't just limit to what other company is offering.

Thats some good insight . Thank you .
I did not plan to stay when I resigned . But starting that day , getting calls from different managers to revert . So thought of discussing here once .
Also I am worried , that even if they promote me now , the next few years will be the same drill .There will be negligible growth. and there is always a risk of layoff .
Thanks again .

Set the mind to leave TCS and joining in new company . You have another 3 months notice period left and can crack more interviews & get counter offer .. Since you already worked 8 years in TCS it's time to explore other opportunities outside that will improve ur skills and also will help to improve ur self confidence.

Verbally nothing will happened ask them firstly revise it then you withdraw it.one of my friend got same trap at the end they give promotion and 15 % hike.

Thanks for sharing this . I have already said no to retention. But the ISU head asked me to inform me in case I changed my decision. This will be helpful .

First of all Hearty Congratulations on the offer... My suggestion - Just move to the other Company... This is not just about TCS... This will help you to normalise with the market standard, better your work life balance... You miss moving out this time, it will be even tougher to decide the next time you try to move...

Boss i have recently been part of it. IOT.DE Unit, They said they will give everything in variable pay. (75% - Performance Pay, 25% z QVA). I immediately dropped the call and mailed them to begin the exit formalities asap.

You will get much better opportunities and salary in the last month of your notice period. With 8 yrs and with the AI-ML degree, you should aim for 30L+ package easily.
I was retained a few years back. The only reason you should consider staying is if they offer immediate onsite before the notice period ends.

You've got enough experience to decide yourself, good luck!!

Don't recall your resignation. Once you pull back they will treat you in worse way. They will keep reminding you that they are paying extra and did favour to increase your salary. It's only when you put papers these ppl realise your true worth.
