Trending @Infosys; Resign without offer

Hi guys,

I have been working on teradata and unix production support for nearly 3 years, now they moved me to another track and its very hectic. I had to work for 9hrs to 10hrs straight. And also suddenly they are asking me to provide weekend support, so I couldn't find time to upskill or prepare for interview as well. So is it a good decision to resign without any offer. Please advise.

Don’t do it if your family depends heavily on your income you might regret it later. I resigned without having another offer in hand, and during my last month of notice period, I went through 4 rounds (Test+Coding Interview on Karat+ 2 Technical) with Citi but got rejected in the final face to face technical round. I also interviewed with EY, but the HR stopped responding to my follow up calls. Right now, I’m chilling at home since my notice period is over playing games on my PS5 and spending time on my hobbies. Fortunately, my father is self employed and earns a big fat amount, so I’m not too stressed about the job hunt. There are jobs in the market, but the interview process especially for programmers is quite rigorous.

Leaving your job is generally not advisable.

Don’t do this, if you can bear with your job for a few months or until you get a new offer. Leaving the job without any offer should not be done at least in this market.

Upskill yourself quickly and start applying writing that you are serving notice period. Don't worry you will get a job. And even if you don't get a job immediately, you can start accepting freelacing and contract jobs at high pay (keep applying for regular jobs) and keep the money flowing in. Even if you stay here in Infy for next 10 years, you will only get peanuts.
