Resign Without a Job in Hand

Has anyone here resigned before securing their next role? I’m in a job I don’t really enjoy and also find it hard to make time to prepare for switching into my desired role.

I have 2.3 years of experience and a 90 day notice period. Part of me feels this could be enough time to prepare and land another offer, but I’m also worried what if things don’t go as planned?
