During your bench, you can continue to upskill with your corporate tagged courses
If you fake it and if there is an evaluation by the project, rejection chances are more. If you are fresher then you can always say I am learning this tech and have basic knowledge. Do learn the basics of tech. If you are experienced then you should have enough knowledge to work on it. Meanwhile you can start learning latest techs languages etc
