Remote Comfort vs Bangalore Growth: 6 LPA Remote vs 16–18 LPA In-Office (No ESOP)
I’m in a remote role (~6 LPA) working from home village with minimal expenses. I got an offer for in-office Bangalore role as an Infra / Platform Engineer at a startup (no ESOP) and expecting ~16–18 LPA. I believe the role could accelerate my platform/DevOps trajectory as they have strong learning-first culture, but I’m worried about (1) sustaining mentally away from home, and (2) whether I can switch back to a remote job after 2–3 years. What would you evaluate to decide? Any must-ask questions (on-call, fixed vs variable, growth path, client pressure)?
Also is it good or should i push for 18-20LPA Range ?

Hi there..Congrats for offer in harsh times
- Sort out your savings from CTC first since you have to shift Bengaluru. The cost of living is higher there.
- Try cracking another interview so that you can negotiate for a better offer.
- You can't be staying at 6 LPA all along 🙃 changes are necessary you can get better opportunities outside and have decent growth. Peace ✌🏻🙂

Actually im already in blr due to some temporary work , and new office will be around 40min away in peak traffic
I have around 8l saved in fd+mf , is that good ? What i shoild be worried about apart from high deposits?
Truth is im feeling stuck in this 6lpa and feeling like not learning shi....

You know what's better than 8 L saving is 80L or 8cr. It is obvious that money is not always the factor of happiness but a few years down the lane your responsibilities are gonna increase anyways. It's only a matter of time that 6Lpa serves the purpose. Advisable is push your comfortable boundaries learn new stuff and progress. Peace ✌🏻🙂

No brainer, shift to bangalore for sure. Work for some time then switch to higher package. People have worked in Banglore at 6lpa with moderate lifestyle, your are way better.
The in office role is more than double your current ctc and you say it provides better growth trajectory. Sounds like the obvious choice.

How old are you? Are you really happy staying at 6lpa the rest of your life? No dreams of buying a house, car, traveling, etc?
If so it's a perfectly valid choice but just know what you are giving up.
If you want all that then you need to grow your career.

See reality is that no amount of money can give comfort like home, it totally depends upon your financial situation & hunger if you're satisfied with earning then stay else jump.
