Remembering Sir Ratan Tata
I have a cherished memory from my childhood, around the age of 8 or 9, when I was admitted to the hospital due to illness. One day, as I lay there feeling unwell, an announcement was made by someone from the hospital administration that a special visitor was arriving. My father, who was sitting beside me, encouraged me to be on my best behavior.
After a short wait, an elderly man entered the ward, surrounded by a group of people. He greeted each child and eventually stopped at my bed, asking for my name and how I was feeling. I introduced myself and, with a hint of humor, said I was feeling better than I had that morning. He laughed, shook my hand gently, and in the kindest voice said, “Get well soon, junior.” As he left, I watched him smile and wave goodbye.
At that moment, I had no idea who he was, so I asked my father, who told me it was Sir Ratan Tata. Today, as we mourn his passing, I feel incredibly fortunate to have met him. Looking back, I realize what an extraordinary privilege it was to meet someone so humble and influential. His kindness left a lasting impression on me.
We didn’t have camera phones back then, so I couldn't capture a photo with him, but that memory will always be cherished.
Living in Jamshedpur, my family has worked with the TATAs for three generations, and I am proud to be the fourth. I used to take great pride in telling my friends that my father worked at Tata Motors, that I studied in a school supported by the TATAs, lived in their quarters, played in their playgrounds, and was treated in their hospitals. His ideals inspired me to pursue a career with them, and his passing has deeply saddened our family.
The world has lost not just a visionary leader but a symbol of humanity. Sir Ratan Tata’s legacy of compassion and integrity will continue to inspire generations to come.
Rest in peace, Sir Ratan Tata. You will always be in our memories.

A heartfelt memory indeed. Ratan Tata's humility and kindness touched many lives. His legacy of compassion and integrity will continue to inspire generations. Rest in peace, Sir Ratan Tata.
