Release from support project

I joined TCS as a fresher few months back as a systems engineer (Digital select). After ILP, I was pushed into a support project without intimation. When I was about to ask release, the manager of that project told me that I can’t go out of it unless I resign. While all my friends were receiving calls based on the skills they mentioned to RMG, rejecting projects they don’t like, I was stuck here not knowing what to do.

Apart from all this TCS work location is 1600km away from my hometown which is even worsening the situation. And they don’t even allow relocation easily.

The project is based on EBS technology. Is it still relevant and can I get good switching opportunities in the future? Or should I fight for a release? Or just resign and look for another job (will companies accept me as a fresher)? Suggestions required.

Don't work and search for better work place.

Hello there. I can totally understand you. I too am a digital candidate and have joined the company 2 months back. While all my friends are bagging in developer roles I am pushed into manual testing and the working shift is also not comfortable as it extends up to 9:30 pm to 10 pm. I am away from my hometown as well and all the struggle I am facing is going into vain due to a bad project. I can totally feel you. I may not give you helpful advice but at least you'll know you are not alone my friend.

Sorry to hear that. Have you ever tried for a release?

I understand how tough this must be for you. EBS technology has value, but if it doesn’t align with your goals, consider discussing a release professionally with RMG, emphasizing your skills and willingness to contribute elsewhere. Resignation should be a last resort, as switching as a fresher is challenging but possible with strong skills and certifications. Take time to evaluate your options, stay focused, and you’ll find the right path!

Write an email.. marking everyone from your manager to ur hr to ur rmg.. inform them that this is the problem u have been facing.. and that u were pushed into something which is not what u were hired for or is ur ambition n goals.. tell them that u won't be able to work like this. And jeopardise ur career graph. So u need an immediate release from the project as the technology n work profile does not match with what your were evaluated on. And tell RMG to circulate ur profile for a proper project which matches ur goals aims and aspirations.
