Release from project

Hi fellow colleagues Received B band for FY24-25

I'm currently in support based project with no mentor in my office,since band is released is it good time to ask release from project?

Also for lateral hires is there any upper limit on the bench period ? Can an associate stay in bench for more than 6 months?
