Rejected by Swiggy

For a marketing role where i had an assisnmrnt with a lot of deliverables to complete in 2 days. On asking for feedback the recruiter told me “the person who screened assignments didn’t like your work much”. I feel absolutely garbage and am looking to feel better. Can someone tell me I just escaped a bad company or something.

Make the assignment public.
Apply for similar roles, share this assignment with them

You have already done some work, now use it for better opportunities

This. Good idea. Tag the founders too. But be open to have your assignment ripped apart and no way to get into Swiggy at least anytime soon.

I mean what kind of a response is that : the person who reviewed the assignment did not “like it” ? Yeh Ras malai tha kya like karne ke liye? What dumb marketing people have Swiggy started hiring. And worse is the recruiter who not only told this to the candidate (matlab candidate experience and company brand ki dhajiya) but was actually ok to get such a pathetic feedback from the assignment reviewer and be ok with it? That’s such incompetence as a recruiter - learn all aspects of the job and grow a pair!

They might even end up using some of the stuff themselves at some stage.

Best to publish it and make a case for yourself to other recruiters on Twitter and LinkedIn.

You dodged a bullet bro. Trust me.

Seeing that you’re someone who actually works there I trust you. Thanks so much

It's on a rapid decline. Even if you had joined you would have left in 2 weeks. Close to 100+ folks are in notice right now (eng/prod/mkt) and all good leaders have left. Look at it as a practice exam :)

The deal about marketing is that campaign ideas and copy can be very subjective depending on the brand and the team. I know for a fact that if I design campaigns for Swiggy, I’ll suck at it but I have managed to find my niche over the years.

I don’t know nothing about Swiggy’s work culture but what I can tell you as a fellow marketer is that this is in no way a reflection of your talent or ability. Don’t beat yourself up over it.

Thank you BlickCait. I think i took it personally because I come from a very similar ecosystem (Blinkit) so had a good command of the brand and the kind of mktg I thought I’m supposed to do. It made me feel like I’m not good enough but you are right. Also i have been through enough interviews in the past 6 months to know people reject you over myriads of reasons and sometimes that has nothing to do with you. Also maybe if it really was about my ideas maybe I just had an off day and it says nothing about my ability. I’m now taking it in stride and am back to the job hunt from today. It will work out for me. Thank you for taking the time out to pacify me!!

I cannot believe things are this bad. So many Swiggy folks cannot be wrong. I wish you guys the best in finding better places too

If they can't respect your time when you're not even working for them, imagine how it would be when you do.

That’s actually true. I guess I was blinded by the brand name

You will find a better place than Swiggy. Don't take this rejection to heart, feel happy that now you have a chance to apply to better places.

My sources tells me that they used your assignment for internal purposes

You really think so? The linkedin opening for the position (posted just yesterday, prolly after rejecting me and a bunch of others) has over 2500 applicants. I doubt they’re taking my work when they really can have the pick of the bunch.

You answered your question bro. That means they didn’t like your assignment for sure

I have no idea what you mean. Nowhere did I make a big deal of the rejection. Its the manner in which I have been rejected. If you think this is okay to do to a candidate kindly drop your company name so I can stay far far away from the same.

The recruiter just gave you an honest assessment that the hiring manager didn’t like your work. Ideally you are making a big deal of the rejection.
