Reflecting on a Tough Transition: Mixed Emotions After the Company Split and Manager Firing

I left the company in October 2024 when it separated from its parent and went independent. At that time, I was uneasy about the changes—especially since the salary hike I accepted was less than 30%, which didn’t quite match my expectations.

Looking back, I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision because I genuinely appreciated many aspects of the work and the supportive management. However, learning that my ex-manager—someone I truly respected—has now been fired brings a mix of sadness and relief. I feel sorry for her, yet I’m also grateful that I trusted my instincts and left before the situation worsened.

This experience has taught me the importance of listening to my gut during major transitions, even when the decision feels risky at the time.
