Recovery of unserved Notice Period

I onboarded in a company and left the organisation within 5 days. On the 4th day I put my papers after speaking with supervisor and my director. They seemed pissed as expected and did not guide much. I wrote the resignation email stating for release by next day since I have just joined I won’t be able to add value of any sort. I didn’t receive any response after that. Even on the 5th day not much response it was dead silence and everybody was working from home which made it even harder as I had no clue what’s going on. After almost 4:30 I get an email from my director stating that I would have to pay 1 Lakh INR for the unserved notice period and acknowledge this email. I was shocked so I called my director and asked for help explained him but he was not ready to help and said this is the process. I told him over teams that I do not have this much money, I can serve the notice period if you want. I knew this notice period is a waste of his and my time both. He asked me to confirm this over email. I wrote over email that I am not in financial state to pay such amount, I request for your kind consideration and guidance. After that nothing, HR kept asking to complete the exit formalities I asked to her read the email I have just shared she kept asking about the formalities, I was not sure as maybe I might have to serve the notice period. Maybe Hr highlighted this to my director that I am not completing my exit formalities, he pinged me over teams to complete my exit formalities. I did and then I was released. After almost 2 months I receive an email from their payroll asking for 1 Lakh money as the unserved notice period. Can they really do that? Or I can push them back since I have teams chat screenshot and email where I have mentioned I can’t pay this amount. Please advise

As for their email, ignore it. Block them. They can't do all this. They're just trying to trouble you.

Can't you abscond? You've informed them and there is no KT. Then why even serve notice period or do all this?

Exactly! It has been two months since I resigned. I didn’t want to abscond as I don’t know what consequences there might be for this.
But I did do proper exit formalities as they asked me to do. And now they are asking for money.
I wanna know as per labour laws can we be entitled to pay money of any sort even though I made sure to follow every protocol. I just didn’t serve notice period because it was waste of my time and theirs.

They are not giving me my relieving letter. Unless I pay the recovery amount.
