Recoveries or Rewards? A Curious Way to Celebrate Employee Trust
It’s quite surprising to see a new trend at BMS — recovering reimbursements that were already approved, audited, and paid months (or even years) ago.
For years, employees have been submitting mobile recharge and monitor purchase claims through Concur, following every policy, approval chain, and audit step. These weren’t hidden or informal benefits — they were processed as per company guidelines, with clear limits (like the ₹2000 mobile top-up). And now, suddenly, these very claims are being called “ineligible,” and employees are being asked to return the money — including for monitor purchases long cleared and closed.
While we all respect compliance, this feels less like a policy correction and more like a refund drive — one that directly hits employee trust. If rules or interpretations change, shouldn’t they apply from now on, not to the past? Employees followed the system in good faith; it’s the system that seems to have changed its mind. Ironically, this move comes right after Diwali — instead of appreciation, employees get recovery notices. What a unique way to celebrate! 🎉 Hopefully, leadership and HR will reconsider this approach and find a fairer, more transparent resolution — one that enforces compliance without penalizing trust
