Recession and layoff related?
Is every company which is laying off is affected by recession?, or is it just using the opportunity(blaming recession) to cut down the work force which increased due to over hiring?

They did accept a future recession and thought there would be growth and hired employees, now due to uncertainty they are decreasing head count

Tbh, companies do this to justify to their investors and display that as their effort to cut the cost.
