Really want a read from Every Software Engineer | Your suggestions are really Important for me

Hi everyone, I am a Masters student from Tier1 College(Please do not think I'm bragging about the clg I'm in but to give better idea about myself) will be completing by May 2024 previously graduated from a Tier 3 college in 2021 and before doing masters I had worked in DRDO for about couple of months as JRF (So I'm a fresher). Please go through my resume and suggest me about getting a Job in SDE. I understand there will be very less SDE jobs in future and I tried preparing for AI/ML roles but I really do not enjoy AI but still having some knowledge in AI domain (but not enough to work in AI roles) and I have very less hands on experience in doing AI projects but I have good experience in software development and want to leave the AI boat and whatever happens work more on Software development (as I feel it is not possible to travel in both the boats). I really applied quite a lot in linkedin, wellfound and other job boards but did not get any response from them. Kindly please suggest me what's wrong with my resume or what should I focus on in order to get a Job. I was expecting 12LPA but now seems getting a job is a blessing.

-> Please let me know in the comments or DM me If there are Job openings -> I'm a fresher and have worked in MERN stack , have good knowledge in Javascript , comfortable in Express.js but open to any tech stack. -> Also worked on Java, C++ (Open for roles regarding C++ a well) -> Have strong understanding in Computer science fundamentals (OS,CN,DBMS etc) Find my resume attached. Please write your views , suggestions which are highly appreciated

Thank you

I would remove any unimportant project(s), and add Achievements/certifications and interests/hobbies. You need to show that you have a life outside work too, hence interests/hobbies are really important IMO, to show what else you do with your free time.

If you don't want to remove any project(s) then reduce their points or write those points in an even smaller manner. You can divide the projects section into 2 parts and write small points about the projects which can give a gist of them. If the interviewer is interested, they will ask about those project(s) and you can discuss in detail

2 parts, with 2 projects in each part

Master's degree, DRDO experience, and a knack for software development - you're a powerhouse! Don't fret, the right job is just around the corner. Have you tried networking events?

Your resume is very strong. Please don't include hobbies etc. like someone suggested. Your resume is good as is.

Rule of thumb is every sentence you write in your resume should either indicate skill or impact.

The only thing I would suggest is regarding the work at DRDO.

  1. The 1st point code repository comprehension is not good. Doesn't indicate skill or impact. Sounds fluff. Please remove it.

Frame the last 2 sentences in this manner -

  1. Implemented a meeting hall booking system using tech stack - xyz.

  2. Added functionality which allows users to make reservations of available halls with admin (Group Director) approval.

There needs to be a 3rd point as well so think about the hall booking system, there must be other functionalities like authentication, etc write about that.

Instead of applying to Jobs in various portals, try contacting recruiters directly instead by forming connections and sending cold mails. Just know that this requires a lot of effort.

I myself had asked others on LinkedIn for referrals and received some too. Also don't expect to get the referrals just as soon as you apply but rather keep on trying for applying and pinging more people regardless if you got the assessment link.

Masters from Tier 1 and still jobless? Maybe it's not the job market, maybe it's you. Work on your skills, not your excuses.
