Ratan Tata ji & layoff.
It was october 2016. Regular meeting at the Bombay house. Same Formal discussion & boring environment as usual.
But that time, it turned out to be different. Perhaps the shocking board meeting in corporate history of india. A new topic was bought on the spot. Immediate voting of the meeting members was conducted & within 15 minutes, a man was fired.
The person who got fired was then Chairman of the Tata group, Mr Cyrus Mistry.(It is the same position of Mr N Chandra's today) & The person who planned this meticulously (you need to plan votes of board members in advance.)& led his firing was Mr. Ratan Tata.
Mind you. Mr. Mistry was no ordinary man. He was hand picked by Mr. Ratan Tata himself, after 3 years of search. Not only that, Mr. Mistry's family still holds almost 18% stake in the Tata sons.
Still when Mr. Ratan Tata felt that Mr. Mistry need to go, it took him 15 minutes to fire THE chairman of the Tata group.
What do you think, why would he have shown any different thoughts in the current layoffs?
Mr. Ratan Tata was a gem of a person. One of the finest human being. True. But he was a supersmart business person too. When it came to tata group companies, his only priorities was these companies only.
So don't think that situation would have been any different during his era too. He would have always preferred tata group companies only.

Yes same things might be still happening if sir ratan Tata would have there but along with us management including CEO would also have been part of layoff
