Rant 🔴 | TCS is hiding something from us
I've been with TCS in Bangalore for a while now (not specifying exactly where or how long), and let me tell you, it's far from the job many fresh grads imagine.
First off, the pay is absolute shit for the amount of work we do. I'm talking entry-level salaries that barely cover living expenses in Bangalore. The annual hikes are so small they don't even keep up with inflation. I remember in my second year, after busting my ass on a critical project, I got a measly 3% raise. Meanwhile, the company boasts about its profits every quarter.
The work itself? Often boring and support work. I spent my first year doing nothing but manual testing and writing basic SQL queries. Tried to suggest process improvements or automation were met with, "That's not how we do things here." They just copy-paste from Stack Overflow and pray it works.
Do you want to apply for leave? Be prepared to justify it to your entire management chain. Need a new laptop because yours is literally falling apart? Good luck trying to get approval. I once spent three weeks trying to get access to a necessary development tool, bouncing between different departments, each claiming it wasn't their responsibility.
There is no Career growth. More like career stagnation. The company loves to talk about "continuous learning", but in reality, it's all about certifications that look good on paper but do little for actual skill development. I've seen brilliant colleagues stuck at the same level for years, while others zoom ahead based on their "visibility" to upper management.
And let's talk about the absolute shady "onsite" opportunities. They make it look so good.
I've known people who've been waiting for years for their chance, only to be passed over for someone with better "connections."
The work-life balance is a joke. "Flexible timing" means you're expected to be available at all hours. I've lost count of the number of weekends ruined by last-minute "urgent" tasks or the nights spent on calls with US clients because apparently, we're supposed to adjust to their time zone.
The worst part? The constant threat of being "benched" or laid off. If you're not on a billable project, you're seen as dead weight. I've seen entire teams dissolved overnight, with people scrambling to find new roles within the company or risk being shown the door.
Attached: See what happens to people who try to leave this shit company. They will come after you for an unenforceable bond.

These fuckers charge 30 lpa to the client and pay you fucking peanuts of 3 lpa and even more low than that I think

I joined as a fresher and it's way worse beyond what you explained

Day by day, the organization is getting shittier

Well written
