RANT || Living in India is economic suicide

You think India is the next big tech hub after the US? Let me burst that bubble real quick.

Argument #1: India has a massive network and I am in my comfort zone.

Reality: India Hopium peddlers on twitter keep talking about the "massive network" and "comfort zone", but what's the point when your money is literally evaporating? The rupee is in free fall against the USD, and now our brilliant FM decided to slap GST on used car sales. Because apparently, a 40% income tax and 18-27% GST on everything wasn't enough! 🤡

Argument #2: I have my family here. Can't leave them uWu

Reality: "But muh family support system!" Yeah, good luck enjoying that support when you're spending 4 hours daily in traffic because our infrastructure is from the colonial era. Want to escape traffic by walking? Sorry, our cities are literal concrete jungles with no pedestrian planning and a random porsche driver can ram into you and unalive you in a moment, while walking away scot free with an essay+community service.

Argument #3: Tech is booming and no country can beat it.

Reality: Sure, if you enjoy toxic work culture and living in a bubble while half the country struggles with unemployment. There is a reason why homelessness, scams and extortion by beggars and trans-people is on the rise in Bangalore. Because, if a city is doing really well then freeloaders will arrive en masse into the city to ruin it.

Argument #4: You are middle class today but wait and see your property/stock portfolio.

Reality: Dumbest argument I have seen from Liberal Art douchebags from DU who know nothing about Econ101. You're paying 40% income tax with literally NO ROI, where's that tax money going? Property prices? Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore/Hyderabad are competing with London on property prices while offering infrastructure from the 1970s. Add in unbreathable air (literally), subpar food quality, and healthcare systems where everyone's trying to scam you.

Argument #5: But the opportunities and risk-taking culture!

Reality: What opportunities? You mean the opportunity to pay insane school fees + 50 different "extra curricular" charges that make UK private schools look cheap? Or the opportunity to "take risks" while living in your gated society, completely disconnected from the reality.

The cherry on top? Even your basic necessities are a joke. Want clean air? Sorry. Want to walk anywhere? Get a car instead. Want quality food? Good luck finding it. Want work-life balance? We don't do that here. Want reliable insurance? Everyone's trying to scam you.

Why is India hard mode? — city infra is poor, traffic is insane — high pollution — govt taxes the 2% who pay legally for little benefit, GST is egregiously high for a developing nation — quotas are too high, general seats are dwindling — overt focus on marks and rote learning over grit and hard work — corrupt politicians mean its hard to get things done legally. bribes rampant — low corporate governance — entry jobs pay less on average even accounting for PPP — many bad actors mean many excessive rules to regulate good actors — people value money > time which makes it difficult if youre the opposite — many trying to make a quick buck off of you — corporate culture is hierarchical and not meritocratic ("call me sir") — connections get you further than merit

When you live abroad, you deal with immigration issues, some race issues, and being far from family but everything else is pretty well set up.

I totally agree with you. We are really really far from being a superpower. But one point, which country you think doesn't have these problems? And even if they do not have these problems, there are tons of other problems lying here and there. Please don't take this as a defense for Bharat. Just a reality check. Grass is always green on the other side brother. USA is falling due to drugs, woke culture & gun violence ( which in all fairness is terrorism only) Middle east & Europe are falling due to wars on both sides. Economy is falling heavily and the illegal immigrants are at a peak now. Japan & Taiwan are always under threat by China
Whole South Asia is a ticking time bomb. One wrong move, the whole world will go down Almost all our neighbours except China have gone bankrupt.

I understand your whole point was based on quality of life but mind my words, this whole world is just waiting for an impending doom wherever you live.

tax system is like a maze—confusing, endless, and designed to trap you. GST rates change faster than the weather, and direct taxes feel more like daylight robbery. But hey, at least we’re funding those world-class potholes!

These days, only the folks who couldn't land a high-paying job in India are heading to the US. The top talent's staying put, some even making US-level salaries while working from India.

Why chase fading dreams abroad when the future's brightest opportunities shine in the East?

India's unstoppable rise in tech and innovation makes the West's decline clear.

Yet immigration number always baffles me - are we being shortsighted? 🤔
