How do you deal with so many notifications? Especially Slack
Starting to feel overwhelmed. Feels like Email is so better
Since I work remotely, I get a lots of dms asking for quick calls. Every time I see a message, I get slightly panicked. Is it normal? How do you guys deal with it?
I can relate. I think our brain has mapped lots of bad experience to it so it preemptively generates the emotion. Gotta remap that neural network somehow
How do you deal with it?😭
Hypothetically u get ur work bestie to do this and assumption is when he/she does it, you’ll be happy. So slowly this might overpower the negative. Otherwise repeatedly reinforce urself to stop giving a F when this happens and presume the other party doesn’t give a F either
Everytime you got a question, you should ask for quick huddles ... it'll become normal...
An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind - Sun Tzu, Art of War
It didnt mean war, rather immersion therapy. This trick helped me, especially reduced procrastination during WFH. A quick 5-10 min call with one of your teammates or your manager helps set the context for the day.
What should be an alternate approach to reduce anxiety? In WFH settings, it can get pretty tedious if I need to type out the entire context for a call each time.
But yeah I don't like to be on the receiving end either
Agree to some Degree. For the same reason, I believe in person meetings are better. Getting call every 1 hour though breaks the momentum and drains my energy
Change the notification sound to something soothing. Disable sound notifications for messages.
I absolutely hate the Teams notification sound.
Tried that with my alarm. Doesn't work

Between Slack, emails, and ""urgent"" texts, I feel like I'm working 24/7. I'm afraid to disconnect, but I'm burning out fast. How do you handle the pressure to always be available?
I can’t be be the only one, but I am surrounded by multiple people that just do not believe in async communication. They first send a “hi”, wait for me to acknowledge and then only proceed to tell me what they want. Even if it is somethi...
