[Question] At what age or salary point did you stop chasing hyper-growth?

Hi,

I have been working in the Software Industry for the past 9 years. I feel like I have made a good use of my hustle but recently I just started wanting a peaceful 9-to-5 where nobody calls me after 6 PM. Recently did a calculation for my finances and I am happy and proud to see I can afford to step back. I have 0 interest in the rat race anymore. Here is how my stats look like

TC: 1.3 Cr Age: 31

I am happy to hear your thoughts. Tell me when you folks stopped chasing hyper-growth. Ask me anything about my mindset shift, career, money management, therapy, songs and movies. #Ask Me Anything #ama #career #work life balance #bengaluru #money management #finance #india

Sorry if delay in responses, I'll answer all your questions eventually.

What made you want to chase and hustle for so long? Congrats on your achievements though. Time to step back and prioritise health and relationships now.

For me I never had that mental makeup only.
I never cared about hyper growth. I just cared about making money. I was always very good at min-maxing. Ie doing the bare minimum amount of work to get maximum results

Thank you! Honestly, it was mostly the fear of falling behind early in my career. Your min-maxing strategy sounds incredibly smart, I wish I had adopted that mindset sooner.

Tips to survive the grueling IT Industry? 😅

And, did your appraisals go so well within Cisco that you received this number? Did you switch jobs frequently or was this built by staying in the same company?

I switched jobs a few times early in my career to bump up the base pay. As for surviving the industry, setting boundaries is key, though it took me years to actually learn that!

Money management ?

I mostly stuck to the basics. Maxed out my investments in index funds and kept my lifestyle inflation in check over the years.

Till what point one should push and grind and decide it's time to take it slow i used have frequent thoughts about chasing for high paying jobs or promotion but now I often think about having time to spend with family, so till when one should sprint and when they should jog/walk. Thanks

I have stepped back in 2022 to start my HR& Recruitment Consulting firm. I am happy that I made that decision and after getting into business I closed most of my liabilities which weren't possible while at work. And the one best thing that I did after leaving my job is I bought a Health Insurance Plan and recently due to this recently I am saved with huge expenses of 7 lakh as my wife fell down while working at home and the doctor suggested knee surgery. Hence, even if you have corporate insurance you should have personal health insurance. If anyone is looking to buy one connect with me I can guide you well.
