Pune -> Bangalore in 45K Salary

He folks, I work at service based company. Due to client requirements I'm being called to Bangalore for on-site opportunity. Should I really move from Pune to Bangalore keeping my 45K Salary into consideration.

I would recommend against it.

If you think Pune traffic is bad, you are in for a horrible surprise. The rents are higher on average. Cheap food is mostly local delicacies.

They say Bangalore has more job opportunities but it also has less of other things - less open space, less places to hang out. Their weekend getaways are actually "long weekend getaways".

Having said that - what the other comment says is also true. There are fewer jobs atm... So tread cautiously. I'm not saying there are no jobs in Pune but that it's an employer's market so they may not be open to mandowli.

I know everyone here seem to advice against it but honestly before moving to Bangalore, I didn’t realise people get paid as much as they do lol.

I moved here when I was making about 50k per month, lived in HSR fairly close to my office. Paid ~15k for rent and maintenance, which got increased to 17k in 2023. I saw a tweet even today by someone looking for a flatmate for a 2bhk at 16k per person.

Paid our cook 1.5k per person (we were three people and he made lunch and dinner for us in the morning which I packed to work and made my own breakfast.

Groceries came about 3k per month, electricity + water about 1k per month.

Spent about 7k to 8k per month on leisure activities and sent home the rest (which in your case, if you think you can save, should be better)

My point being, I was spending about 30k a month and never had a complaint about the money. Found better jobs and moved later (only because it was unbelievable to see how much the rest were making)

I don’t regret moving here at all. If you think this lifestyle works for you, you should consider. If you think you can find a different job in this market, go for it.

Keeping a job in current times is a win itself. Unless you have another job offer you have no choice but to move. Plus Bangalore isn’t that bad a city :)

Bangalore for better salary

Does it make sense for someone at 35LPA in project management with 18 years of experience to relocate to Bangalore for a better salary.

What I have heard is that salaries are better in Bangalore in general.

Shifting to Pune from Bangalore

Would it be a good idea to accept a job opportunity to shift to Pune given I would be the only Indian in a team that works across US and UK? DSM and meetings would be mostly at night and I would be stretched across 3 different time zones...
