am on career level 11 right now(36 Months at this level). My Manager told me that he has referred/recommended me for promotion to career level 10, also I have recently learned that I am a capability resource and I have been loaned to this project(working in project for a year now). Will my promotion/hike depend on the seats and budget availability in capability or do my manager have any say in this as in he can give budget from project to have my hike/promotion accomdated. Also what is the standard hike while promoting from level 11 to 10 .

No, it straight up depends on the project budget. I'm from EU language capability and about a year ago, I was at CL11 and I had resigned as I got a good offer. My manager recommended me for promotion and within a week, I got promoted to CL10 and they matched the compensation to the outside offer I was holding. Managers and MDs within the project can even torpedo the promotion promised to a resource just to retain another resource.

Did they ask you to show offer letter? Did you got promoted after 12 months of within 12 months?
People in capabilities and loaned out to projects are in a difficult spot. Even if project recommends for a promotion the promotion bucket falls under capability. So basically your promotions and hikes get yo-yoed between the two and harming your career and growth.

All this after doing roles of basically from a ASE to team lead and giving extra hours , working multiple projects from them. Capability guys gave only 5 percent hike to me last dec and 10 ducking percent bonus, overalI was getting paid more 1 year back than what I am getting paid now. I think the "Managers" only view us as a resource not a human. If we work our ass off for their project they should also work/fight hard for our benefits, but unfortunately they don't.

I too am in the same boat. We are basically in a very bad situation here. When we ask promotion nomination from project they say we give very good feedback about you to your capability but promotion decision is on them. And when we ask capability managers for promotion they say that hat have you done for your capability other than good work done in your project that we should consider you. Even though my chargebility is 100% till date since the day i have joined.
