Promotion/Hike/ and On-site opportunities
Hello all It's been 2.5 years now But I don't know how many times in year hike is given. I've heard that 2 times they will increase once you complete one year(annual appraisal) and one in April month , I don't what it's called??
Does anyone knows about this system, plz help ...
And when we can ask for on-site opportunities? Is there a process to request for going abroad in tcs?

In your first year , you are not eligible for a normal yearly appraisal cycle but you complete something known as your Final anniversary and get a rating . Depending on your rating , there is a hike that comes from corporate budget . From your second year , you become a part of the yearly appraisal cycle that starts in February and ends in March . You get a rating (IPF) and then a band , which determines the increment you will get in your new compensation letter rolled out in the new fiscal year.
To sum up , there is always only one hike yearly , for the first year its anniversary and from second year onwards it’s your appraisal . Every quarter , you would also get a variable component ( known as QVA) which was defined in your CTC. The percentage of the pool that you would get depends on your grade in TCS , individual performance , account and unit performance for the quarter .
On-site is a complex process . You need to check if your project / account has an onshore role . Depending on the geography , you have to check if you are eligible for the visa ( For US it’s the H1B lottery process even if you are eligible , for Europe you have to meet a certain salary criteria in India to qualify , especially if you are 30+ years in certain countries like Netherlands to meet their HSM requirements , UK has certain requirements of its own ) . If you are indeed eligible and you are a top performer with high client visibility , you can talk to your manager about a potential onsite opportunity . Your role , responsibilities , experience and criticality to projects are also key factors in this discussion.

Thanks

There is an annual hike. Then every year the financial year hikes in April. Which starts after your 1 year in TCS. Next on onsite, this purely depends on your managers and the location you want to go. For eg, the US requires you to have 5 years experience but other locations might have less. And also they will see how skilled or useful you are to the project because this is an extra investment on the client end, so the client needs to accept it. I would suggest focusing on your skill and don't get distracted by these because managers will make you work for years by saying we will give you an onsite soon.
