Pros: If promoted to C3B... You will get lead position, good exposure of project handling, client interaction, little bit of management interaction

Cons: If promoted... Huge deduction in QVA (nearby 70-80%),
Unnecessary work load, low band in yearly appraisal

Pros: If not promoted.... A little bit better % hike than the C3B, less project stress, less deduction in QVA

Cons: If not promoted... Less exposure to other tech stacks, will not increase salary (Avg promotion salary hike 15%)

Now, the real question is, whether

  1. the avg promotion salary hike in C3B > % of hike in C3A or not. Please explain.
  2. Considering all the factors in our favour, what is the Avg. QVA in C3A when compared to avg. QVA in C3B?
  3. Is getting promoted really worth it to have a peaceful work-life balance?

Honestly promotion from C3A above is not worth it.

One simple reason huge deduction in QVA. You will get 15% hike in the promotion and majority could be added to your QVA which means technically your overall salary hike would be around 6% as TCS doesn't give full QVA.

Now comes the interesting part.. C3B and above do have billing issues. Project will think twice before onboarding you for new assignment.

Now another con is that reputation.. after some years of experience people except a certain grade from you..

Also the MLT related drama would increase.. All in all if I was in your place I would focus only on tech stack & nothing else. Promotion no promotion who cares..
