Need a suggestion from y'all - if I am trying to hire a person for my team and out of 1 year, 6 months I have slogged alone without finding the right person, should I ask for a mid cycle hike when I got the hike for the lead position in April? Does it sound fair?

If I am the boss here is what I will say: I gave you budget for hiring and you weren’t able to hire 1.5yrs. No wonder you have to slog.
