Project Release

I joined 7 months ago in TCS and I personally feel I couldn't see any growth in the ongoing project. Since they're having an anniversary appraisal concept, it is possible to release from the project if I want. And BTW, what is the procedure to release from the project on our own instead of kicking out by the project. Advice please my dear fellow TCSers.
