Hi,

It's been 3+ years in Wipro now. I worked on core Java development in previous projects, but from the last 7 months I'm on a desktop support role. Now I got an opportunity in development from a different project but in the same account, but my manager is not releasing me by saying that we can't release you because resources are less in our project. So what can I do to get released from a support project to get into a development project?

Please suggest!

You must talk to your manager directly and firmly. Explain your career goals and how this new role aligns with them. If they still refuse, escalate the issue to higher management or HR. Don't give up.

Better switch the company. You have very good experience of 3+ years. Search for any mid-size startup or mid-size service based or product based then you will get good projects to work on. In wipro I don’t think there is much projects related to Java. I am also from java background not getting related to java

Yes, I'm trying to switch but the problem is that I have signed a bonus letter, and the retention date is the end of 2025. But still if I get some good CTC outside, I'd definitely go for that.
