Product to SWE?!

Has anyone transitioned from being a PM to software development? I'm a PM with less than 2 years of exp and don't feel that I'm suited for this role. I haven't worked as a developer before but feel that with preparation I should be able to become ready. Only doubt is that will I get a SWE role as I'll be competing against freshers.
