Product Roles

I was super curious for product management roles and switch to startups was one of easy bets, my current role( 3 yr work ex as implementation consultant) in B2B involved customer interaction and working on requirements on OOTB product,but back then i didn't appear many interviews, i wasn't actively applying but with recent scenario of all layoffs and startups fundings, what should be a good strategy now? Need suggestions from experienced folks
