Private vs government job dilemma

Most of my childhood friends have either joined armed forces or got into central govt clerical jobs through SSC CGL/CHSL

Given the current state of tech and future of private jobs, is taking a break from my current job and preparing for a decent govt job worth giving a shot ?

I think it’s better late than never. I don’t want to have any regrets of “not trying at all”. I have seen the best of both worlds and know how to leverage my existing knowledge while working to get a government job that can offer me long term stability.

Help me decide and what do you think in the comments

Prepare for govt job without leaving current job
Take a break(6 months to 1 year) and just focus on the preparation
Just stay at current job and continue upskilling

Best of both worlds, build a business catering to govt only. I know of a business doing crores of business just supplying to army canteen.
