Workload will vary across projects irrespective of your designation. I started as a Systems Engineer in a project which is one of the top clients' of Infy. In my 2.6 years of tenure here, I have easily seen 5-6 PPs hired, some switched companies, some got released from the project. The workload in my project is heavy for a few weeks, and for some weeks you are simply sitting idle.

I have felt sometimes they'll just map a PP to a project not because the project is technically challenging, but because they want to extract hefty billing from clients by selling the Infy's reputed PP resource to client.

Hahaha It depends actually on your luck. You might get a good team so you'll get a lot of learning opportunities. But they also can allocate you to a worthless project where you'll get frustrated. I've seen my colleagues working till 1 A.M and also those wo are free for the whole day. I myself logoff around 6.30.
