Power cutoff during Coding Test

Hi,

While attempting a coding test, one of those ones which needs webcam to be on at all times, the power got cut in my locality and for 5-10 seconds, my room went full dark, would the platform pick that up as cheating?

Also, I generally have a pen and paper with me while attempting these tests, would looking down into paper while solving it, would that also be under suspicion?

Platform was Mettl btw.

Also, Does anyone really got disqualified due to suspected cheating? Reasonably or otherwise.

Each proctoring system operates in a unique manner. While Mettl may flag lighting changes or looking away as suspicious, a brief power cut or using a pen and paper isn't likely to cause an issue. Do inform the test administrators about the power cut, just in case. Even if a disqualification seems harsh, systems are procedure-driven, focusing on test integrity rather than identifying cheaters. Stick to the rules, and you should be good!

I told the HR who reached out to me. Let’s hope things turn positive because the test went well 🤞🏻
