PM Salaries Have Crashed.
Met a PM from IIT / IIM with 4 years of experience. He is working at a well know soonicorn at a salary of 17 lakhs per year . He used to draw 30 lakhs per year in his last role before we was laid off . Interesting Times ahead

A minute of silence to all the grapevine polls where salary expectations are so high 😁

Finally. This was long due. PM's are just overpaid.

Why so jealous? If people are getting paid or overpaid or underpaid ....it's not like money is going out from your pocket

Lol I'm a developer but I laugh at other devs on Grapevine unnecessarily spewing hate on PM profile

Doesn’t sound true. No IIT + IIM grad after even 1-2 years of experience works at 17 lakhs, let alone PMs. Even in his last role, he would be earning more than 30lpa easily.

You clearly aren't from an IIT/IIM, and haven't made any effort to research properly.

A senior PM here, although I am sad but this was inevitable.
Think of a product mentor and tell me how many of them have ever written what exactly they have worked on and what are the real launches they have managed. It’s close to zilch 0 anda!
Somehow all of the PMs within one year of product management start writing the same generic shit and will start acting as Shreyas Doshi and Marty Cagan.I mean I have literally seen APMs in 6 months becoming mentors and teaching PM courses. Most of these nibbas don’t even know the difference between a web hook and API but they somehow have memorised every frameworks and metrics irrelevant to their work profile.
Most of their content will be the around mock interviews, utopian problem statement and the copy pasted framework from Lewis Lin PM books.
And not to forget about irritating Indian PM communities, they have somehow convinced the aspirational PMs that Product management is all about solving every problem via UI tweaks in a 20 page ppt.

Finally, the truth! Thank you for saying it out loud

Lucky to get adjusted to lower salary. Senior ppl (> 70-80L) are not even getting that option to take lower salary.
They have to wait out for market to catch up.

I do not understand the mindset of the people under this thread!!
What do you mean by PMs being overpaid, I say literally everyone in India is underpaid.
Like in the metro cities where rents are touching a massive high of 60k a month, our salaries are just enough to live a decent life.
The rents are definitely reaching as high as the first world countries and the other spendings whereas the salaries have been there at the same level for a decade now.

Idk why your friend accepted that offer.
And it's so not true that PM salaries have crashed.
I have 3 years of experience and I make 40L+ (all fixed).
If you have the right experience, proven results, domain knowledge and good negotiating skills you can still get a decent hike in this market.
