Trending @Accenture; PLS REPLY!!! Any chances of promotion? Performance vs. Visibility?

I am currently at CL11 with a MAL of 27 and have been sincerely dedicated to my project. I always complete my work on time, maintain quality, and ensure there are no backlogs. My managers are happy with the work I deliver, and I fulfill all my responsibilities diligently. However, I am more introverted and prefer to focus on my tasks rather than engaging in unnecessary conversations or making myself overly visible.

On the other hand, my teammate, who has a MAL of 18, works less compared to me but is highly talkative. He always tries to stay in front of the managers, engages in frequent conversations, and ensures he is well-known within the team. While he does complete his tasks, the accuracy and efficiency of his work are not as high as mine. He takes more time, asks a lot of questions, and then executes the same tasks, whereas I understand things in one go and complete them quickly.

Despite our different approaches, I am aware that there will be a comparison between us when it comes to promotions. One factor that is often overlooked is that I was promoted to CL11 nine months before him. However, since we both joined this project while already at L11, most people are unaware of this timeline.

Given this situation, what are my actual chances of promotion? Does the quality of work and efficiency matter more, or does visibility and frequent interaction with managers play a bigger role in such decisions?

I am sure, Dont worry you both will not get promoted this June. This is what is happening in Accenture...

I am here with a CL11 with MAL value 24 Months. And i resigned....

Resigned with an offer or just resigned? The 3 months notice period is really killing opportunities out here.

As many have already said, visibility matters more.

You need to change your personal priority to become more like the other person, it will only help you. Uncomfortable but true.

As for promotions, most of the time person with higher MAL is prioritised.

Even if others don't know your status, your managers know it as it is 1 of the datapoints.

As for June, if only you were told you will be discussed for promotion in Dec'24, only then there is a chance.

Bro..I had 34+ MAL during December itself. I got multiple appreciations too. Still got nothing but false promises about this cycle. I got 100+% hike and resigned. Completed 1 month NP already.

It is a very common misconception that hard, smart, more work means promotion or a good hike. In the corporate world things don't work that way. It is for people who use 👅 properly, in most cases. This is not restricted to any one organization it's a prevalent culture.

It doesn't matter how efficient you are. Managers are people and people thrive on communication. Make sure you make noise with every work you deliver. And don't focus on promotions and hikes. Instead focus on upskilling and cross skilling and change the company.

It's depends on the manager to the manager. Yes but visibility highly matters
