Please help- Query Related for the Probation Period of a Fresher

Please kindly clear one doubt- For freshers in the company the probation period is of 1 year. If the fresher is about to complete 1 year next month Feb does he/she needs to talk to Manager or any other concerned department and tell them to end the probation period? Or does the probation period end automatically after completing 1 year? Like from our end do we need to do any procedure?

Also, does the manager or management team have the power to extend the probation period?
