Trending @Infosys; PIP suggestion please
I joined infosys in oct - 2022 and after that went on bench as they don’t have any projects but was not bench completely , gone through flutter training for 4 months, worked there and also completed few certifications which were recommended. But idk my bench manager gave me this NI rating without even discussing with me and told me at last that she gave me NI rating. As in November 2023 I received my first project and worked in that with all I have and manager were also happy with my performance. I got release from project in march 2023 due to team downsizing(whole team got released), After I came on bench my profile stopped getting shared for opportunity. When I asked my bench manager she advised me to talk to HR. Now HR told me to have a in person discussion as they are putting me in PIP.
I don’t know what to do and how does this works, Should I go for PIP? If I go for PIP and if I fail in it, will I get compensation of 3 months when they will ask me to leave? As currently I’m on bench what will be my tasks?
I am so stressed cause u just started my career and all this happening with me. I just have 1.8 years experience in IT , will I get job somewhere?
Please help me out clearing my mind .

My DOJ of Infosys is May - 2022, currently I'm on bench from the date of joining Infosys. When I and few freshers started reporting to my base location DC Mangalore, My senior project manager said I will keep exam on Java (offline), those who secure top 5 position they are preferred for project allocations. We all attended exam, I got 2nd position later I asked my Sr. Proj. Manager about project she said I will get back to u on this. After a couple of weeks again I asked her, she said some people didnt attend exam so I will again conduct exam. I attended exam and got 4th position. Later asked her about project, she strictly said we do not have projects for freshers right now, if u have patience then wait for another 2 quarters, later if u still didnt get project u can switch to another company, I literally felt bad on that day.
I left reporting base location bcz of rent, travelling expenses (~450km from my home town) etc., I came back home and Started reporting nearest DC (Hubli). Meanwhile I took some career guidance From tech lead, I followed his advise and learnt AWS and its services. Later my manager had put me under PIP whiout evaluating goals in iCount. I attempted 1st PIP java exam, during exam in project itself it has some project file related errors, I called invigilator and explained the problem I was facing, she told me to update project, I did it around 10 times still errors were there, even invigilator also not able help, invigilator called senior guy and explained about my error, he also tried but he couldn't resolve, later he told me connect with ETA team member (devj priya, mysore) I called her and shared my screen with her, she said just ignore errors and start writing code0, I wrote whole exam but number of errors were increasing. I again connected devi priya she said I will mark your empID and said will take care of those inbuilt errors. I thought she might give me a another chance to write exam but she didnt, I received result saying failed.

I dropped her mail about my result and chance of giving another attempt, she didnt respond. Sent text message through teams but no response. I completely felt down. Later I didnt go for attending 2nd PIP exam. Instead I worked on AWS and got job at singapore based big startup with 11LPA.
So never ever let others to decide u, along with plan A, try to work on plan B.

Congratulations bro 👏

They are continuously trying to get rid of their bench employees by putting them in pip and giving them the option to quit the company. It's better to be prepared for the same things.

Exactly even I was working when many of my batchmates were on bench. I also have good DQ better than my fellows but still hit by this NI rating without discussion. I don’t know what will they ask or tell me in that discussion meeting. I messaged and mailed my bench manager that Atleast give me clarity why I have to go through PIP cause my last project feedback is good. But she is not responding to any of those

Let me tell a very candid thing while I have already moved out of Infosys by resigning and opting out of so called PIP. These people have definite targets to reduce bench. Now if you have heard of project Maximus it focuses upon reducing the cost and releasing talents from projects. If they move on bench then bench will increase and hence they are in a pressure to downsize so that they can accomodate the people moving on bench due to cost cutting in projects. Though PMs don't want to reduce the strength in projects but they have pressure to do so by senior delivery leaders. I have a candid discussion with the HR manager after my resignation who clearly told that they have targets to reduce bench. I am still looking out actively in job market now.

You will get a job outside. It's not a big deal. Don't tell the other company that you are on the bench for 1.5 years
Project them as you worked in some project and you are just trying to switch.
Also gain knowledge on realtime issues and debugging scenarios on your tech.
Other companies don't know whether you worked in a project or not. They will believe whatever you tell confidently.

Thank you sm for your words. Ya I start looking for new opportunities but many of them demanding 3+ years of experience or above 2.

Sure bro

What's PIP means. Can someone please explain me as I'm a fresher here.
