PF Record Issue Blocking My Job Opportunities – Need Guidance

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a serious issue with my PF (Provident Fund) record and would really appreciate any guidance or help.

Back in 2023, right after my graduation, I accepted a work-from-home opportunity with a company. I shared all my details with them, and they created a PF account with a joining date. However, I never actually worked there for even a month, and the company never followed up or communicated with me again. There was no formal onboarding, no salary, and no exit process.

I assumed that since I didn’t really work with them, there would be no official employment record. But recently, after receiving offers from three companies, one of them backed out during background verification due to my PF history. It shows a joining date with no exit date, making it look like I’m still employed there.

I tried explaining that I never actually worked with that company, but they mentioned that either:

The PF record must have a proper exit date, or The UAN-linked employment record should be corrected/removed

Because of this discrepancy, I’m now stuck in a situation where my job opportunities are being affected.

Has anyone faced something similar? What would be the best way to resolve this PF issue? Should I approach EPFO directly, or is there any other process to get this corrected?
