Performance band given by manager can be altered by HR ?

Well I am not a manager but believe this to be true ...
The reason IPF has nothing to do with the band .
Immediate managers might give good IPF and even recommend for good banding as these are decided later and absolutely not based on IPF but the final decision is with higher up unit managers.
So faced the same where my manager gave a decent IPF to make me fall in mid banding instead of high & he confirmed he recommended as well as I had been released and usually post release "c " has become a default trend .
However he also got back later ( somewhere last month ) to say there was some HR communication and higher management were reshuffling despite the recommended bands. And yes it's certainly not what he had suggested .

so you tried to change the band ?? I m in same spot, got released from the unit

Nope I haven't tried to change and won't as I had a similar scenario in the past and rejecting it and raising grievances did not help and just wasted time and added to frustration .
So I am making peace with it

To be honest..it is very unlikely that the band can be changed.. cos it's like admitting that they did commit a mistake earlier and hence, they're correcting

Everything is in your manager hands only , just think logically if your client is happy and manager knows that then he/she will try to keep you happy too .if Manager knows what you deserve and then do you really think they will listen to Hr for your banding .Your working for client not Hr so it was always your managers call for banding promotion and everything Hr is just check for eligibility that's it .

i have Rto 100%

Well I also believe it to be true as many managers had ignored the RTO compliance if the actual performance was good and there was HR communication as I heard asking to modify and add more of lower bands making RTO a criteria

Can some managers please comment on this ?
