Penalty to client-Project Release
My DM is saying they can't release me now because they committed this work to the client and the client team demanded some associates .And if tcs is releasing that associate from the project they have to pay a penalty .Is that true or are they just faking ?
Most likely it a false narrative to not release you, the client doesn't care of who is working on what, the bottom line is project delivery and whether TCS can do it without any problems.
While it might be a false narrative for the poster, it’s not true that the client does not care . For fixed price (FP) projects , there is a fixed delivery cost and it does not matter who comes in and who goes from the allocated resource pool for the project . However for Time & Material (T&M) project , billing is done on the availability and work completion consumption for each separate resource . In such cases , pulling someone away suddenly can impact client billables and attract a financial penalty depending on the clauses of the SoW.
