I can not give you a specific response to your question, but I can tell you the following based on what I have heard recently:

1. Your promotion cycle will be reset since you have been assigned to a new project under a new business vertical and hierarchy.

2. If you have received a 3 rating three times in the past, you will need to receive a 4 rating three times in a row. After that, they will only consider you (not recommend) and will ultimately give you the explanation I stated in point 1.

3. If you still push them for promotion they will directly say ‘this is not possible at all. You are allowed to search for new opportunities outside Cognizant’

So, in a nutshell and in my opinion— No promotion!
