Oracle layoffs
Heard of some layoffs happening in the OCI division. None reported so far has anything to do with performance, but rather a reduction in force.
Any clue of more coming in the near future?

Hi @TheChosenOne , one question about Oracle, is “Database Cloud Team”, part of OCI only? How does one identify OCI job opening?
Like- “The Database Cloud team is hiring Fullstack developers! Come build the cloud with us. The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Database Cloud Services group designs….”
Does that sound like OCI? Or just some subsidiary/complementary department?

Structuring-wise, DB Cloud team is not under the OCI org. The DB team is insanely huge, so it's a different org altogether.
I'm not sure if there's a clear-cut way to identity if a team is of OCI from the job opening, but if you see "Prod-Dev" anywhere in the job opening, it's most likely OCI.

Not really. Many under Apps division have ProdDev in their job description

But aren't they hiring ? A recruiter approached me .

It's a team specific thing. From what I understood so far, teams who have more than required number of people did firing as reduction in force.
From what I know, OCI has been in a hiring freeze for quite a while, which is why OCI never had to resort to mass layoffs like other tech companies. The hiring is happening on a need to basis.

Wow. I was very clearly observing a pattern with the people at my company. Recruit them with very very low salaries (we all know TCS) and give them higher salaries relative to current TC. I swear I was thinking if this is going to lead to a layoff. I work on Oracle products too. So most people around me are Oracle people. Yeah I want to follow this news now😂
