Opportunity bias

Do you think it's a bit hypocritical for PM's who made mistakes in their early careers(even in interviews) but their managers took a chance on them & now they're great product leaders.

But when its their turn to hire an entry level PM for their team, they're looking for the absolute BEST & are not willing to provide the kind of opportunity that they were provided?
