Opinions on zerodha vs growww?

This topic comes up frequently. Everytime I look for information on the subject it's either old, or repetitive and I end up leaving even more confused then when I started. I don't know if this time will be any different. But here goes..

I currently have someone thats been managing my funds for a long time now, but right now I'm looking at trying out one of these online platforms starting with a small amount of money per month or maybe even a one time investment.

The platforms I know of are zerodha, groww, INDmoney which are most popular.

I've zeroed into zerodha and growww due to most people using them and alot of my friends who use them as well.

Things I've heard that are subjective between the two are things like the interface on one is better than the other. Customer service is better on one. Or withdrawal is easier on the other. Charges are lesser on one.

Keeping the overall experience and safety of my funds, which is the highest priority, which one should I go with?

I know zerodha has multiple apps for different things, I can't tell whether this is easier or harder to do things.

I just want to be able to get my money out without issues and loss when I need to. Whether that's in 10 month or 10 years.

Zerodha is completely bootstrapped and take their own decisions. Groww have huge pressure from VC and other initial investors to keep growing and bound to take decisions to make investors happy.

How does that matter to customer? Just curious

I think this is an important factor to consider. Thanks for sharing, had no idea

I feel zerodha is better compared to groww.

The support from zerodha will be good. You will get responses from support ASAP.

One more point to mention is brokerage for delivery is free in zerodha

Can you explain to me what this delivery is? I'm seeing this alot here. What is it and why does growww charge for it? And zerodha not

If I am already using groww, can I shift to zerodha easily? Or is there some complications due to DP (Depository Participant) changes Has anyone done it yet?

It's not that easy but once you learn it's very easy. You need to create a account in zerodha and signup CDSL then provide link both accounts in CDSL after you should send the shares from grow to zerodha without selling. Charges each stock (eg infos) 15-20 rs if you have 5 stock 100rs chargeable by groww. You can raise support in grow or zerodha

zerodha....even if you make 10 trades in a year, your brokerage will even out annual charges.

Don't think I'll be trading.
Just buying to hold mostly.

brokerage is zero for zerodha for delivery transactions....groww it's 20rs. I think.... Rest all same

FuzzySushi
FuzzySushi

What is this delivery transaction? Sorry idk.

intraday transactions - you buy and sell on same day delivery transactions - you buy and don't sell on same day....in this, the shares will be credited to your demat account

Moved from Groww to Zerodha due to brokerage charges. For MF, I don't see any difference between both, but Zerodha Coin supports daily and weekly SIP

How did u move equity any additional charges incurred?

FuzzyPretzel

Did not move the existing ones. Created a new demat and started investing from there.

zerodha is cheaper no brokerage only amc. although has a horrible UI. groww ui is amazing, you will get all information you need in single app. brokerage is high

my suggestion, start with grow & learn / understand things. do note you will pay higher brokerage but not as high as icici / kotak which are complete broker. once you understand enough move to zerodha with their amc model. do note it is rumoured zerodha will introduce delivery brokerage so u will be paying amc & brokerage but this is rumored and not final

additionally u can move to free brokers like shoonya or dhan or neo

to add groww customer support is good and everything is available under single app compared to zerodha with multi apps. beginners should always start with groww but branch our later

I have the growww app and it does look good and is easy to use. I haven't invested anything.

I haven't installed anything from zerodha, I've just seen there's multiple ones for different things, so I don't even know where to start

As of today, Zerodha is slightly better than Groww. One significant advantage of Zerodha is they are bootstrapped.

We never know what happens in future but currently yiu can trust Zerodha.

Someone else also mentioned for the same reason. Thankyou

Is there a better platform for MF’s?

I'm planning on doing equity.
But why is this your suggestion?

Zerodha is a much more ethical company and it is pretty transparent about what it thinks. Zerodha does no ads, no capture tactics, and has UI which doesn't encourage trading. Zerodha is just sitting in the background silently - the only notification it sends are the mandatory regulatory and account emails. Their blog posts are pretty good too. The customer service is also better, and all of the documentation is pretty good and to the point. They are private, have a small team, are professional, and have no reason to impress any investor.

Meanwhile Growww cannot grow without ads, actively bombards ads, ads useless stuff, and is going for a pump-and-dump IPO where investors will hold the bag.

The choice is pretty clear.
